Ive had problems with the car since it was built, On start up when cold it would fire but then stall then second time round would be fine. When left for say a couple of minutes when hot, again it would fire, sound really choked up or even misfire, start again and give it a bit of throttle and it would clear - then was fine.
Over the past few weeks the car seemed to develop a misfire, but only when under load or coming into boost and on boost, felt like one cylinder down, so went through all the usual S2 issues, new plugs, leads, cap, arm, dizzy, fuel pump, filters, metering heads, did a comp test, all ok, so thought I would take the advice of someone I met at the RS owners club meeting, I forgot his name ...sorry but very helpful. He suggested that I get four milk bottles and but each injector in the bottles and depress the air flow flap fully and see if there was a inbalancement with the injectors, which I was very happy to see that no 2 was flowing less than 2 thirds of fuel than the others, so changed that injector and that solved the problem..........for a few days. started doing it again so I checked the injectors with the milk bottles again, and no 1 seems to flow more than the others and no 3 under fueling.......... at the end of the day, all second hand injectors for these cars have done at least 110 000 miles, So today I have gone and bought 4 brand new injectors and am going to test them out and see if it improves the cars problem.
Stupid question I know, but has anyone else had this problem? and did anyone test there flow rate and notice that each cyilinder had a different flow quantity as I'm sure they sould all be exactly the same...right??? and also, the injectors shouldnt drip when the airflow flap is not depressed, should it? otherwise I presume they will drip into the inlet and flood a bit on startup causing poor starting when left a while?
Sorry, bit long winded!
thanks
