Default Internet Explorer annoyance (esp. on ebay?)

Since upgrading to IE7 (and quickly reverting to IE6) I've been getting lots of "Page Cannot Be Displayed" errors. Sometimes the page will load and sometimes it completely refuses, even though I can access the same page from another machine on the same network.

Also, lots of pictures won't lead, even though the rest of the page comes up, just with the white box and a red cross.

Maybe unconnected but in the last day or two on ebay I find that the "back" button will work after I have done something like clicked to watch an item, or viewed questions.

I've deleted all the cookies (bit of a pain as I'm now having to log in to different sites again, and I've run CCCleaner, but now ebay will only load in a most strange layout. The couple of other sites I've tried so far seem to be behaving normally. UPDATE - the ebay site now loads normally but BACK only works until I have WATCHED something, then it just keeps trying to load the current page.

Any hints?
