Idle speed control - You ALWAYS use a idle valve with drive by wire. In fact for the first 10-20% of air demand you might not even move the throttle plate and purely drive the engine from the IACV.
i dont think simon is asking how it works on production cars,, i think hes talking aftermarket system, i cant see a reason (if the control circuit got enough res) why you would wanna use an idle valve
