With work I fit systems for people with disabilities where a Ring is fitted to the steering wheel, which when depressed operates the throttle. This used to be done by a motor pulling at the engine throttle or in some cases at the actual pedal, all operated by an ECU. With the new fly-by pedals, as 80% of cars are these day, it means far less for us to physically fit as an interface is spliced into the wiring (throttle TYPICALLY has a 5v feed, an earth or two then 2 or 3 'signal' wires where resistance changes with the pedal movement). You program the ECU so the ring replicates what the pedal does. So in theory, far easier and in my case an advantage with the modern technology. The downside is half the time there are hiccups with the installing and it never mates together as it should!
Which causes me
Like the Voyager I've done yesterday/today, I swapped the gear from the owners previous identical Voyager but for some unknown gremlin type reason it wouldn't 'mate together' without a new ECU?!
