Squier (not 'Squire'

) strats are great instruments to learn on, definitely. You can also choose an Ibanez RG or GIO, that will also do perfectly. Keep in mind that if you wish to play hard rock or metal, the Squier will not suit you very long, because of its single bobbins pickups. The overdriven sound will be VERY weak. You may better choose an Ibanez RG with humbuckers, you will as well lear on it, but keep it longer
