My sister did this, the toughest thing was actually finding an instructor who could find time for a crash course. Most instructors are booked in for regular once or twice a week lessons so can't find the time.

In the end she found one and would literally be out all day for a few days a week. Expensive but he'd take her to McDonalds for lunch and stuff.

For a proper crash course I'd expect to travel, they don't seem common at all.
