well i know about the bolt that does nothing, but never seen that there is anything to lock the crank with.
im talking about silver tops too.

anyhow, as for identifying cams, there are 'rings' cast intot he cam shafts, it seems that all the cams have the same number stamped into them, but the rings in different orders identify the cams.
i dont have any pics to show what im on about either, but i think a few years ago on the westfield site it said something about them
