It will cause it not to start if you have no fuel pressure. My own car done the same thing last week where it had not been started for 8 years

I had to change the mix unit and bleed the air. Once i did the fuel pressure was right as the flap in the metering head was firm and had around 2-3mm movement.

If you have fuel pressure the flap under the filter will be firm.
