Hi Rob-85, The WCXM is great for race car's where the front wheels leave the tarmac regularly. Every time a race car hits the ground again the weight of the engine can force it down to knock on the X member. That's what a WCXM is good for. Ask yourself the question - are you really going to lift both front wheels off the road at the same time? if not you can save £100 by keeping your standard X-member and engine mounts. There's a lot of 'talk' when it comes to modifying Mk1 and Mk2 Escorts, but sometimes we all get carried away with the spec we'd like to brag about rather than what our cars actually need.
I dont know if you've thought about the gear box X-member yet? you will need to re-locate it about 3 inches further back for your 5-speed. Ive just done this job on my RS2000 so ask me if you need more info on this job.
