The starter motor demands more current flow than the rad fan ever will, plus that and the fact once the engine is running you also have the aid of the alternator.

If you fan isn't working i expect the brushes are worn or the commutator is corroded.

I had a fan that stopped working after it had been sat, a bit of persuasion and fiffling and it started working again

Whats the problem this time
