They make the car quite jerky when you come off the throttle when partially boosting, it allows the flap to momentarily close which completely cuts off the fuel supply.

Try driving your car round the block and getting the turbo spooled but not actually using the boost, and then come off the throttle.

Then remove the dump valve and repeat it, and notice the difference
