Check your bank balance, and your marital status. If you intend to use the car in the winter/ wet/ summer/ warm/ cold, then its gonna break - a lot!

You will need money, and then excuses as to why that money is not being spent on your better half.

PRactice saying "Of course I love you darling, but the car is important too, and I need it to get you presents etc. If I dont fix the car, I cant buy you anything, and neither of us would want that!"
