if the manifold is off then just use a big screwdriver to put between the block and the kidney box,then lever it outwards,once the seal has broken you should be able to wriggle it to and fro till its loose and comes out
if the manifold is on then its a bugger
but you can knock them out from below again using a long screwy or chisel
