AFAIK a speed licence will cover you for a sprint. Thats just simply a case of filling in the form and paying your £33. ie No ARDS test is required to be taken.

Race, Rally, and Kart licences all require a written and practical test to be passed.

Licences run from Jan to December so dont do anything now otherwise you will have to pay it all again in January.

Your local motorclub should help you with all this once you have joined if you ask them Section 3 - The Doctors Medical is also not required if you are uder 45 so that will save you money too
