I had a quick look under the car at Combe, saw graphite grease everywhere and bought a new gaiter from Halfords for about £3.50. It wasn't until I got it apart that I found the split was in the metal rather than the rubber!
I remember thinking "can't believe it's gonna cost so little to fix this car, usually even the most minor repair is at least a ton!"... True to form I guess!
