More importantly the wire of the loom also degrades with time and the constant heat cycles it sees under the bonnent, especially the 'shielded map sensor wire which can lead to intermitent problems. If you are keeping the car and plan to go big power( you're rebuilding the engine so why not
) then i would recommend a new engine loom to ensure the ecu gets reliable & correct signals
