Shouldve used P600 with a good flatten then black straight ontop as your white paint was good so no need for primer.

As for protecting it there's nothin you can do really apart from apply a protective film to it but that would have the same effect as laquer.

i used 400 first, then 2 coats of primer, then lots of coats of black...lol....
