Bought this car many years ago and it basically sat for 4 years doing bugger all.
about 18 months ago I pulled it out the yard and made a start on it, then got carried away building up a S2 and put it away again till april this year.
Nearly finished now, had it out at the sprint track last month for a first outing and just need to sort the niggly bits and finish the bodywork off
stripped the panels off and bare metaled the whole engine bay
Stripped all the sealer off of the inner wings, cunt of a job !
then painted them and the crossmember with boat paint, very expensive stuff but it will last for a good while
after that welded in new front panel, wings, battery tray and a few small plates that were needed. then stonechipped gaurd, primered and finally painted diamond white as I was going to do the car that colour originally.
front floorpans needed some work so chopped out the bad bits and put new ones in
did weld them in along with a section of rear floorpan later on the build.
then it was off down to my unit for a while
and yes that is a cossie towing it !
stonechipped and painted inside
after that I got bored and put it away in my mates garage for a year whilst I built this up
used it twice and had transmission problems both times so stripped the thing and gave Andy the shell for a cossie conversion as it is immaculate.
welded in the cage mounts & replaced sections of the sills and the whole lower rear valance before moving on to painting the engine bay in sunburst red.
rubbed the white down flat and used it as a base coat, was my first time ever spraying with a gun and it came out great , was well chuffed as I did it outside !
engine etc went in next, zvh turbo on OFAC management with rebuilt S2 box and a few other goodies, still to chip it and get some decent power yet but its fairly tourqe'y (sp) as it is.
after that I put the cage in and moved onto the bodywork.
bare metaled the new wings and rear valance and acid etch primed them
after that we masked it up, well everyone else masked it up whilst I stood and pointed at the bits they had missed
and few hits later
roof needed doing again but the rest was ok
not got the pictures if it just painted here but will get them
here it is after the first outing
still to sort the problems ,escpecially the 4x4 rear ride height !
flat and polish the paint and fit the 16i/xr3 bits ive got and put the proper wheels on it but that will all be done in the next couple of weeks.
Huge thanks to everyone that has helped me with it especially Andy Mac who is a fuckin level head genius who keeps me from arsing around and doing stupid things most of the time
