Just thought i would mention seeing as it just popped into my mind today.........the chassis number on the floor wont be evident because MK4's have the number stumped infront of the front section the seat bolts to, MK3's have it behind that, so with a MK3 carpet the number is covered up.

This would help explain things, just thought i would mention it
