the ratchet went on my fiesta about a month ago, last week i decided to replace it, bought the correct ratchet and pin etc and also fitted it correctly, after fitting it was very hard to get in and out of gear so i adjusted it on the ratched slightly and it was spot on, about three days later the clutch pedal when pressed down wouldnt let me put it in or out of gear, felt like it had slackened off and wasnt pulling the lever back far enough to lock the clutch off, so i then took the cable off from the lever on the box, pushed the cable inside the casing till i heard the ratchet click 3-4 times then put the cable back on the box and lever and again the clutch felt absolutely fine and all gears were easy to get in and out of, but again after a short 4-5 mile trip it seemed harder to get in and out of gear so i repeated what i did before on the cable and it was fine, it just seems to keep slackening itself off after every short journey but the actual ratchet is fine, brand new and engaging fine, and the cable seems fine too, i really am stuck!! i have completely removed the ratchet and re fitted it to check i have done nothing wrong and it seems fine?
