When I was over at SCS I had a chat with Harvey Gibbs about the 202 block. They are slightly better than a 205 block but not as good as the 200 block. They basically are only good for a standard rebuild, are considerably cheaper than a 200 block and have less core plugs which would help make the water jacket slightly stronger.
The bad points:
- The piston bore walls remain the same thickness throughout whereas the 200 block's gets thicker near one end
- They cannot be long studded like the 200. Harvey held up the 2 blocks and showed where the 200 had meat to drill into and the 202 didn't.
They therefore a not seen as being the block of choice for higher powered engine. Also, the supply of them was brief and small, so you are unlikely to hear of them again.
Hope this helps!
