There is a little S-clip that fits on the bottom of the heat-shield that clips into the metal brake pipes that go along the bulk head and that holds it away from the down pipe - to quote Mister Rainbird.

Just had THE most confusing coversation with Ford Parts (which is really saying something!) who tell me such a part does not exist. Cheers Duck.
