All plain bearings are not prefect they come with high spots hence the use of mineral oils in older engines and a bedding in compound in new stuff, They use a grey graphite stuff in Honda engines to help this process...and as for rings if you thrash a car from cold these items get hot and wear quickly and this reduces there sealing performance in later life...Which = excessive oil consumption

So why are engines run in on a dyno for several hours at different loads ???????????????????????

Correct me if i'm wrong but the term "blueprinting" come from building an engine and on bearings using engineers blue to find high spots and then removing them to near prefect condition
