They're not! They're invariably "Fitters", "Technicians" or YTS lads! All they seem capable of doing is going to the parts bin and swapping bits over until it starts working again....

There's normally ONE decent "mechanic" in a main dealers in my experience.

Unfortunately they pay peanuts.... [no offence to anyone working in a main dealer] but anyone with half a brain that's decent at what they do works for themselves or a firm that values them.

It REALLY makes me seethe sometimes when a customer buying a car looks at a service record and says "Oh, it's not main dealer History..."

I'd rather have someone I trust service a car than some thick twat that hasn't got a clue about anything except ordering more jewellery from Argos.
