Default Ford Ka exhaust manifold gasket

Hi all,

I'm going to replace the exhaust manifold gasket on my girlfriend's Ka, so I referred to the Haynes manual which tells me I need to dismantle half the car to do this, well, drain the coolant, remove radiator etc anyway.

Is it possible to do the job by just undoing the nuts and pulling the manifold forward to allow a new gasket to be slipped over the studs after cleaning the surfaces etc? Or is there simply not enough room? I was hoping it was a simple job as even safely jacking the car up on the uneven road outside isn't as simple as it sounds!

Thanks as always for your help.

Jim
