closed loop is for the warm up phase and i would have thought all modern cars run it. in closed loop it will disregard signals from the lambda sensor and use the preset map in the ecu to control fuelling. once it reaches a preset temperature will switch to open loop and read the signals and adjust the fuelling to suit.

it'll improve power and economy.
