Razors are the most common item stolen from supermarket shelves.
Reason, relatively high value, easily sold, small enough to put in pockets.
The major supermarket that I deal with have had CCTv pointing at the razor shelves for years, dummy cameras on top of the razor shelves were in use 14 years ago.
As all major supermarkets have complete CCTv coverage of the sales area and checkouts what Gillette are doing is nothing new, you have already been photo'd a hundred times before you get to the razors.
It's probably aimed at smaller retailers that haven't got complete CCTv coverage.
If I owned a supermarket. I'd be taking cash deposits at the door BEFORE I let anyone in.
