the reason for me and simon to use the frs engine is because we had spent exstensive time developing the cylinder head, inlet manifold, turbo, all relevent pipe work and the fitting of gotech management. Unfortunatly time had took its toll on the big end bearings and it was down on oil pressure so rather than rebuilding the 1.9cvh it was cheaper to use more modern off the shelf readilly avaliable items plus it would have taken longer too rebuild the 1.9. Also we carry steel rods to suit that engine which then gave it even more strength and reliability
I agree that the engine could produce more power with a correct spec,d 16v head but again it would cost more and take longer still
Once the car is run in and mapped we will see the true potential of the 8v head again
as we have seen 350+ bhp on my efi cvh head with standard valves proven (stuart collins 1.6 cvh)
