Scott,

First things first, rust.

Get the car in the air if you can, and check underneath, as that's the killer. You want to check the rear chassis rails, and the sills under the rear doors, as that's where they go first.

Secondly, check external rust, especially around the wheel arches and the screen and window rubbers.

As for the other stuff, it's usual sensible car buying.........
