i was told by eggenberger himself that the blocks were different. seems like the ones he used back then didnt have core plugs... Where we have the metal covers pressed in they were full material.

He also said water / oil was different on those blocks and that he used a "mask" to drill / hone the bores so that it would be done in the same way as if head was bolted on.
