Managed to get hold of the mechanic who built my engine , so the torque proceedure is 50 Lb/ft, 70Lb/ft and finally 90Lb/ft (121Nm). Also worth mentioning that an 18mm socket is required for the nuts- after the outside has been turned down to 29.5mm.
Moral of the story, fit a cometic gasket in the first place!!!!!!
