raise the TIS and EBS (traction interlock switch, and emergency bypass switch) - these disable the "train wire 4" safety circuit, all the passcoms and emergency brake handles, and door open switches, and allow the train to release the brakes and obtain engine power with a door open or an emergency lever pulled etc etc

They have been used a couple of times in anger
