I have a DVD recorder and 5.1 surround sound and wanted to know whats the best cable to use for picture quality and sound

RGB
S Video
Component video inputs jack

Whats the best out of the 3 above to connect up?

There is also Optical or Coaxial digital out for the surround sound which one is best?
