Yes its the tensioner that keeps the belt from slipping...

The belt is also in contact for a large area of the pulley (like over 50% ie more than 180 degrees).

The thinner the belt the harder it is to transmit the drive. So don't bother going less than whats on there at the moment.

The cherger needs to be mount rock solid.
