I don't map cars, so I'm not interested in how easy it is to load or alter the map, or protect it from being copied.
What are the advantages of this over a L8 with say the MSD coilpack board and closed loop fueling conversion ?
I don't want to appear negative, but it does seem expensive compared with what is currently available.
The choice of who maps your car becomes wider.
For example, currently Stu@MSD or some other professional with 10s of thousands of pounds of equipment can map your ECU, and thats pretty much the only sort of person who can, and they will charge you 500 quid or whatever to do it.
Now your local rolling road should be able to do it as well if you trust them to do so, where as before they couldnt, wether thats a huge benefit or not to you depend on your personal circumstances.
Personally the reason i have one is so i can "give it a go myself" I enjoy mapping so i have an RP Labs ecu as part of that hobby, i doubt i will ever get it to run as well as it does on my Stu chip though, and im better than a lot of "ameteur" mappers probably as ive done it quite a bit now, so realistically if someone like myself with a moderate amount of experience is confident they will NOT match the results of the Pro's then anyone considering this who has never mapped before has no chance, hence Mike's comments that really its aimed at professionals.
