Superb film!

Basically, the black guy, and the fat fellow, WERE the two inmates in the cells either side of jake, they taugh him the chess moves/life theories etc.. then more or less screwed him over because they knew so much about him.

Does take a bit of watching right enough, watch it again soonish and you will see how clever it is

John Statham who plays Jake in Revolver is a favourite actor of mine, guy is a legend. Awesome in every film ive saw of his. Italian Job, Snatch, Lock Stock, The Transporter and Mean Machine to name a few.
