I had exactly the same thing happen to me, one of the clips holding a hose broke and it slipped onto the drive belt. Ended up having to get a new hose and belt as it had totally freyed it. Cost me about £40 altogether so it weren't too bad. I've made sure that hose wont be slipping out again with a nice cable tie.
