to some extent what car you in is taken into consideration in D1 rules, but not much at all, as if so nobody would ever have any need to spend money making a good car.
if both cars perform equally the shitter one has the slight advantage, but if the better one is even slightly better its through regardless.
reason Kieran got into the last 8 at Knockhill was he is good, the cars not as shit as it looks, and Ralph in the SVA 350Z fucked up n span out.
its not exactly easy to keep up with drift cars entering 1st corner at 120mph and holding 4th gear drifts inc all down long straights when you not in a car that can manage it.
