this post is geting intestering
right heres what i know.....
the track is an oval track & he races around clockwise so all the oil is being pused towards the gearbox side of the sump.
the cars are all fords (mostly escorts) but all run the 1.6 cvh engine.
the engine neva starts 2 tapp from the top it just knocks the bottem end out all the time (knocking)
he cut a groove into the sump on the inside plate just infront of the sump bowl, he the slid a plate into the sump & welded it in.
this worked for half a seasons raceing & neva caused a problem untill the season ended & the engine sat around for 4 months & when refitted for the next seasons raceing it knocked the bottom end out.
he threw away the engine & started again but he has gone threw 3 engines in past month (1 every race) & is geting fed up with paying for a nites raceing & doing 4 laps & goin home.
its cheap fun so dont want 2 spend £££ on a sump, just wants a home made bodge 2gether that will work. (the 1st engine worked)
