i was talkin about your measuring of the signal to your dodar valey thingy on the metering head....not ac or dc in general, of course it can all be measured the same way...ie a meter, whatever.....

alternating current is called that because it alternates between + and -... correct??? and however many times it does this in a second is called its cycle...

so my argument is that if you dont have one side of the wave to start with ...ie DC then how do you get it there ...u cant... you have to create it yourself...

then is your argument about inverters....do they create alternating current ie swaping + and - at 50 times a second to give you a 50hz mains supply.. from lets say a 24v supply dc,?

no they dont...they give you a pulsating DC output insted which everyone belives to be AC when in fact it isnt. just because household apliances will work off this supply does not mean it is ac.
