I don't have wireless myself, but from talking to others about it, a proper wireless hub and modem shouldn't need to be connected directly to a machine to "put out" broadband. As with what Lee said tho, you might need to connect it via USB to a computer in order to configure it with your ISP details and set it to connect with your other machines. My suggestion is temporarily set up a PC (or better still use a laptop) plugged into the hub/modem via USB, configure it, and get it to connect to your machines. Then once you have everything set up, you should be able to unplug the laptop and it should run fine
