Slide the outer column off. U have to take the cowling off, the stalks, the bonnet cable, and the four nuts holding the column in place. That only takes 5 mins, it's easy.

You slide the column up over the inner shaft (that the wheel bolts to). At the bottom of this shaft there is another bush that the one u mangled turrns against. Get a new one of those too, and coat the lot in greace. Also, the white tolerance ring under the steering wheel - get a new one of those too. I'd get a few, as they cheap if u mangle them.
