Basically its a plated diff.

Rather than the wank viscous one Cossies come with.

Can change the plates and how they set to adjust the amount of lock at various times, ie when accelerating, decelerating, and just coasting.

Can pump up viscous ones to have a lot less slip too, but then they turn into barely more than a welded diff if you pump it up to a decent amount of lock.

A lot of aftermarket plated diffs set for road use are set really "safe" anyhow, no not loads of lock, but still FAR better than standard LSDs.

And yes, the bits are usually way stronger so break a lot less!

Plated diffs need regular maintainance tho, esp when set to work properly (ie not all safe for road use), oil changes v.regular mainly, but gotta be prepared to get it overhauled fairly often to keep it as good as it ever was.

Viscous on the other hand stays pretty similar (ie crap ) no matter what.
