i thought it is a plated unit as opposed to a geared or viscous one, could be wrong
basically you can adjust the amount of "lock" you want, and by lock i mean how much easier one wheels turns faster than the other
i have a 7.5" r+d plated diff and i seem to remember it is set at 80nm, which means....
a) i cant puch the car with the wheels turned
b) the car judders when you set off out of t junctions with the outside wheel trying to tranmp
c) have a fucking awesome piece of kit that is rated to over 400lb/ft that has transformed how the car handles
highly recommended
PS transmission isnt hp rated, its torque rated!
