Are they a good or bad idea ?
I know Ford put them on as standard but has anyone that runs without one actually snapped a belt due to a stone etc ?
I have a friend that races a pinto powered outlaw on gravel and he wont use one. He reckons the chance of debris damaging the belt is greater with one on as if anything does get around the cover it fly’s around inside until it does do some damage. Without the cover the chances are the debris will pass through and not cause a problem.
If the cossie one was a good fit I would deffo fit it, but certain parts look quite exposed anyhow, I guess it may only be there to keep fingers out of moving parts …
What do you think / do ?
Cheers,
