When you say 8.5:1 do you imply the static compression ratio or is it the dynamic compression ratio?

I've been trying to find some pistons for my 1.9 (I live in Canada) and found someone who can get a set Mahle's. I was hoping to get a set of standard RST's over sized to 82.5mm. It's hard to do when you don't know if the standard RST's extend past the block.
