the bush on the gearbox end is either worn out , or has been knocked out
if you remove the bottom plate on your box , feel behind the flywheel for this bush , it should be buggerd!

with the bush out ,the rotor shorts on the stator , causes a short and works erratically .do this enough and youll be replacing the battery soon enough!
