Default dump valves are cool and speed u up according to.....

some chump on strathy

extracted from a topic

"No Dvs are cool, they just dont work well on some older cars. Especially the older diaphram type, even twin piston DVs cannot match up with the variabe twin chamber DV sold by HKS, not even close.

The lack of throttle response and cutting out associated with the RS is not due to the DV, its due to the DVs effect on the old K/KE Jetronic injection system it uses.

Had the RS not been equiped with what is now considered an agricultural injection system a DV would infact work well on the car.

Funnly enough, the same injection system was first used by Saab, they succesfully managed to equip there turbo cars with a recirculating DV.

Not only did this safe guard and extend the performance of the turbo it also increased throttle response.

DVs are well smart, perhaps not as cool as a good wastegate chatter but smart enough. Yes they can lose you performance ..... but only in vehicles not suited to dumping vacuum. Even that problem can often be aleviated by fitting a good quality DV."
