1280 * 768 VGA and DVI/HDMI wouldn't make a difference, bandwith / noise is not really an issue yet.

BUT you will need to go into your TV set settings to tune the VGA signal as not all video cards are the same (sometimes it's a tiny bit out of sync)

Once you get it right it's flawless.

DVI/HDMI is easiest though


Oh and PON, get a nice Philips player, they just take anything and are easy to set to play all regions.
