You could probably clean it using cotton buds or a lint free cloth soaked in alcohol, gently wiped up the wire - you could fit an oiled air filter to a vehicle with an AFM, but I wouldn't do any of those either

Maybe I should have phrased it I wouldn't use any other than an electrical contact cleaner to clean a relatively fragile AFM.....
